Kids LOVE to DANCE! Experience a simple and innovative approach to teaching dance and creative movement to your students and a new way to look at dance education with a pedagogical focus on simplicity, creativity and student-centred teaching. Participants will be introduced to strategies for motivating students to develop creative and unique movements in the context of a Classroom, Dance or H&PE setting, connecting the Dance curriculum using the elements of dance and fundamental movements skills. Explore dance styles and music from around the world (Hip Hop, African, Bollywood and more!) with a focus on the Creative Process. Receive a certificate of completion for your professional portfolio. Suitable for K-8 teachers.
Program creator, Michelle Hillier (OCT) in an industry expert in both Canada and the U.S. She is a published author in a new national H&PE textbook with Human Kinetics on the related subject of Dance & Movement. Michelle is also on faculty in the B. Ed program at Brock and UOIT teaching dance education and has taught the Dance AQ for York for over 8 years. Michelle’s work has been described as inspiring and accessible for ALL no matter your level or ability. Don’t forget, “you can’t get it wrong!”
